Goal

Finish with more discs of your color than your opponent.

Setup

Four discs start in the center: two black and two white, with matching colors diagonally opposite. Black plays first.

Your turn

Place one disc on an empty field so that at least one unbroken line of opposing discs is bracketed between the new disc and another disc of your color. Lines can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Flip every bracketed opposing disc in all eight directions. Empty fields and the edge of the board break a line. You cannot choose to leave a captured disc unchanged. Only lines bracketed by the newly placed disc are flipped.

Passing

If you have no legal move, you must pass and your opponent plays again. You may not pass when a legal move exists.

Game end

The game ends when neither player has a legal move, even if empty fields remain. Count the discs on the board: the higher count wins; equal counts are a draw. Empty fields award no points.
