MICROCHIP

An abstract puzzle and drafting game for 2–5 players

Goal

Build the most valuable closed network on your own color-coded board. You choose tiles in turn, but may rebuild your chip between turns.

Each color has four terminals, two straights, two corners, three T junctions and one crossing. All 60 tiles are shuffled face up into 12 columns of five (3–4 players) or 10 columns of six (5 players). With two players, ten random tiles are removed and the other 50 form ten columns of five.

Take tiles

Choose one tile from the marked outer column. When that column is empty, the next column opens. Confirm your choice with the standard turn button; before confirmation, ordinary framework Undo/Redo applies. If only one tile remains in the column, the server takes it and completes the turn automatically.

Build

Select one tile and choose a highlighted legal space, or drag a tile anywhere to experiment; stripes mark wrong colors and broken-circuit icons mark invalid connections. Tap a placed tile to open large rotate / remove / rotate buttons beside it. Tap the tile again or outside to close them. Clear board returns every placed tile to your hand.
After the supply is empty, use Finish turn to submit your final arrangement. It becomes available when colors match and all placed paths are closed. Unused tiles may stay in your hand. If you cannot build a chip, clear the board and submit it empty: every collected tile then costs 2 points. This is the online interpretation; the original rules describe this rare case without a separate procedure.

You can rearrange your board between turns. Changes are saved automatically. Your opponents can see your current arrangement.

Score

Only the largest connected closed structure counts. Each terminal scores 1, straight or corner 2, T junction 3, and crossing 4. Subtract 2 for every owned tile outside the counted chip, including pieces in other structures. Highest points wins; a tie is broken by the number of tiles in the counted chip. A remaining tie is a shared result.

Example: a closed pair of terminals is worth 2. With three additional unused tiles, the result is 2 − 6 = −4 points.
